Medical and healthcare logistics, from port of entry to receiving dock

Windward Distribution imports, clears, stores, and delivers medical devices, diagnostics, reagents, and healthcare consumables to hospitals, clinics, laboratories, and in-country distributors. Handling conditions are held at every transfer, not re-established after it.

What we move

Windward Distribution is a downstream logistics operator. We move medical and healthcare product, we do not source it, evaluate it, or select it on a client's behalf. Once a shipment is ready to leave a manufacturer, distributor, or consolidation point, our job is to bring it into the destination market, hold it properly, and get it to the place it is ordered for.

That covers a wide range of product, from durable devices that only need careful physical handling to diagnostics and reagents that depend on a continuous temperature range. Each shipment gets a handling plan that matches what it actually needs, not a single generic process applied to everything that comes through the door.

Product categories we handle

  • Medical devices: imaging, monitoring, and diagnostic equipment; surgical instruments
  • In vitro diagnostics, laboratory reagents, and calibrators
  • Healthcare consumables: disposables, dressings, and single-use supplies
  • Other regulated or condition-sensitive healthcare product by arrangement

How the work runs

Four operations make up a shipment's path through Windward Distribution. On most consignments they run as one continuous handoff, not four separate jobs handled by four separate teams.

Import and customs coordination

We work with the customs broker and carrier engaged on each shipment to keep entry documentation complete and consistent, and to track release status from arrival until the product clears for delivery.

Cold chain and controlled handling

Diagnostics, reagents, and other temperature-sensitive product get a handling plan built around continuity: holding condition through each handover rather than checking and correcting after the fact.

Warehousing and inventory

Segregated storage, batch and expiry tracking, and release against a confirmed order, so what leaves the warehouse matches what the client actually asked for.

Last-mile delivery

Scheduled delivery into hospital, clinic, and laboratory receiving, plus drops to in-country distributors who run their own onward network to smaller accounts.

More on delivery

Goods that cannot be mishandled need custody held at every transfer, not just at the start and the end.

Why custody matters

A device that arrives damaged, or a reagent that spent an afternoon outside its required range, does not always show it. The failure can be invisible until a lab result is questioned or a piece of equipment does not perform as expected. That is the risk we are built to manage.

Every point where a shipment changes hands, carrier to Windward, transport to storage, storage to delivery vehicle, is a point where condition and custody can be lost if it is not planned for in advance. We plan for it: appropriate handling from the start, minimal dwell time between handovers, and a record of who had custody of the product and when. Read more about how we work.
